Recently, Ideal also released its second quarter and first-half performance. The data showed that the performance was not as good as Seres.
The data showed that in the first half of the year, Ideal delivered 188,981 vehicles, nearly 8,000 more than the 181,197 vehicles of Wenjie.
In terms of revenue, the revenue in the first half of the year was 57.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.8%, but it was still a little bit behind Seres' 65 billion yuan. It can be seen that Ideal's single-vehicle revenue is not as high as Seres.
In terms of profit, Ideal's net profit is 1.69 billion yuan, which is slightly better than Seres, which is 1.625 billion yuan.
However, in terms of gross profit margin, Seres's gross profit margin in the first half of the year was as high as 25.04%, while Ideal's automobile gross profit margin was only 19%, and the company's overall gross profit was only 20%, which was slightly worse than Seres.
In fact, if you take a closer look at Ideal's financial statements, you will find something interesting, that is, Ideal's car sales may actually be loss-making.
Data shows that Ideal's operating loss in the first half of the year was actually 117 million yuan, but because Ideal has a large reserve of more than 90 billion yuan in cash, in terms of investment and financial management, Ideal has more than 1.4 billion yuan in interest income and investment income, and finally the overall profit is nearly 1.69 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 47.8%.
Why did Ideal lose money? In my opinion, it is still the L6 car. After the launch of MEGA suffered a Waterloo, Ideal released the L6.
As Ideal expected, L6 has indeed exploded and has become Ideal's main sales model. Taking June as an example, Ideal delivered a total of 48,000 new cars, but L6 accounted for nearly half of them.
However, L6 is Ideal's cheapest car, with the highest price less than 300,000 yuan. It not only lowers Ideal's average car price, but also lowers its gross profit margin.
It can be seen that low-priced models have high sales, but sometimes they do not necessarily have a positive effect on the company's revenue.
